Cosmic Thing is the fifth studio album by the American new wave band The B-52's, released on June 27, 1989, by Reprise Records. It served as a massive commercial comeback for the group following a period of deep mourning and a four-year hiatus after the tragic death of their founding guitarist, Ricky Wilson, from AIDS complications in 1985. The album updated their classic "Trekkie-camp" and surf-rock formula into a polished, mainstream-friendly dance-pop masterpiece.
