Ultra is the ninth studio album by English electronic music band Depeche Mode, released on April 14, 1997, by Mute Records. It marked a major turning point for the band, serving as their first record as a trio following the departure of key member Alan Wilder in 1995.

The album's creation was highly tumultuous due to lead singer Dave Gahan’s severe heroin addiction and a near-fatal 1996 overdose, leading to intense speculation that the band was finished. Despite these heavy personal struggles, Ultra became a commercial success, debuting at #1 on the UK Albums Chart and #5 on the US Billboard 200.
