Heavy Horses is the eleventh studio album by the British progressive rock band Jethro Tull, released on April 10, 1978.The record is highly regarded by fans as the second installment in the band's late-1970s folk-rock trilogy, sandwiched directly between Songs from the Wood (1977) and Stormwatch (1979). Unlike its more whimsical, myth-driven predecessor, Heavy Horses shifts toward a darker, realistic, and earthly perspective of English rural country life. The sweeping title track itself is a grand, melancholic ode dedicated to the traditional working ponies and draft horses of Great Britain facing obsolescence from modern tractors.
