Evil Empire is the second studio album by the American rock band Rage Against the Machine, released on April 16, 1996, by Epic Records. The album debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard 200 and was certified triple platinum by the RIAA in 2000. Known for its fusion of rap metal, punk, and alternative rock, the album featured Tom Morello’s signature guitar techniques, such as the "turntable scratch" solo on "Bulls on Parade".
