A Farewell to Kings is the fifth studio album by the legendary Canadian progressive rock band Rush, released on August 29, 1977, by Anthem Records. Following the commercial and critical success of their breakthrough album 2112, the band traveled to Rockfield Studios in Wales—marking the first time they recorded outside of Toronto. The album expanded the trio's musical landscape by heavily introducing new electronic instrumentation, synthesizers, and classical arrangements, successfully becoming Rush's first album to be certified gold in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
