Dirty is the seminal seventh studio album by American alternative rock pioneers Sonic Youth, released on July 21, 1992, by DGC Records. Recorded in the wake of the early '90s grunge explosion, the band co-produced the double album with Butch Vig and mixer Andy Wallace—the same technical powerhouse duo behind Nirvana's genre-defining album Nevermind.
