Badmotorfinger is the acclaimed third studio album by American rock band Soundgarden, released on October 8, 1991, through A&M Records. Co-produced by Terry Date, it was the first album to feature the band's classic lineup completed by new bassist Ben Shepherd alongside frontman Chris Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, and drummer Matt Cameron. The record bridged the gap between heavy metal and alternative rock, utilizing unusual time signatures and alternative guitar tunings. It earned a 1992 Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance and eventually achieved double-platinum status.
