The Promise Ring / Nothing Feels Good

Nothing Feels Good is the second studio album by the American rock band The Promise Ring, released on October 14, 1997, through independent label Jade Tree Records. Widely recognized as a foundational pillar of the 1990s Midwest emo movement, the record blended the raw urgency of post-hardcore with infectious, naively optimistic power-pop hooks. Produced by J. Robbins, it catapulted the band from basements into the broader indie club scene and famously went on to sell over 50,000 copies in its initial run. This commercial success blew past the standards of their underground peers and laid the essential groundwork for the mainstream emo explosion of the early 2000s.
