Veruca Salt / American Thighs

American Thighs is the critically acclaimed debut studio album by the American alternative rock band Veruca Salt, released on September 27, 1994. Named after a playful lyric from The Guess Who's classic song "American Woman," the album became a foundational staple of the 1990s alternative rock and grunge eras.

The Chicago-based band, fronted by the dual-guitar and dual-vocal attack of Nina Gordon and Louise Post, mixed aggressive grunge riffs with infectious pop sensibilities. The album was initially released by the independent label Minty Fresh before being quickly picked up for wider distribution by Geffen Records. It eventually earned an RIAA Gold certification for selling over 500,000 copies.
